Traditional Zulu Baskets

Woven in the old traditional patterns and designs, using ilala palm and grass they are dyed by using indigenous plants. Each basket is unique and handwoven.

The colours used in the baskets are made from natural dyes:Ochre-umqandande fruit, Black- Isiszimane roots, Lilac- umphekambedu leaves.

Today there is a palette of over 20 natural colours available to weavers.
